This tutorial deals with some of the same ideas that Black Magic Craft has discussed, with a few tips and ideas of mine. Please check out his videos for tips on building structures like these, and countless other crafting ideas.

If you can't tell from the pictures, I am a fan of crafting building interiors (if the structure is large enough to merit it). An interior that matches its structure lends immersion to our games and playability to our crafts. There are a few different methods that we can use to create our interiors:

1. As in the horse stable to the left, the floor can be part of the structure, with just the roof removable. The piece is then playable with our without the roof. (The terra cotta tile roof was done with corrugated cardboard strips.)

2. The floor can be custom made for the piece. This hut was made by wrapping textured foam board around a hat box, and the lid insert was the perfect size for the base. (See Landvaettr's video for the thatched roof techinique.)

3. A building can be made to suit pre-made tiles. The interior perimeter of this shack is slightly wider than the tiles, so that when it is lifted off, the tiles don't get lifted up as well. The building need not fit snugly.

4. The larger base for this small house is custom, but it is a useful size, and serves as a base for several different buildings.

Coming soon is a more detailed interior of an inn, and why I do think inns are worth crafting. See you soon!

I hope you find this tutorial useful. If you have any questions, please send me a note and I'll do my best to help out.
